Dedicated to the memory of Carla Rankin

Carla was born in Manchester on February 4th 1987.

She is much loved and will always be remembered by her friends and family.

Even though Carla had no auras prior to her seizures she never let that spoil her life. It didn't prevent her from abseiling off a glacier at Mount Whistler or swimming with sharks in the Maldives (OK, they were small sharks!)

It didn't prevent her from attending a Hen Party which was a boot camp - canoeing, cycling, swimming - plus the boot camp activities too - no way would she miss that!

Carla was the first to admit she wasn't really into exercise but it didn't stop her completing a 10K to raise funds in aid of Epilepsy Action.

She had a zany sense of humour and loved dressing up for fancy dress parties. There was many a time she would disappear through the front door dressed as a bee, or astronaut, or on one occasion, a wardrobe.

Carla was the manager of the Antelope Restaurant Pub in Mitchum and the owners kindly named a room in Carla's memory. If you are in that neck of the woods, pop in and raise a glass to Carla in the Rankin room. In fact I am sure she would appreciate you raising a glass every now and then where ever you are. (By the way, her favourite tipple was G&T!)

We miss her terribly but for anyone who knew her, they will remember her big smile, her welcoming hug and her absolute belief that any problem could be solved as long as it involved a big cup of tea.

Carla was an inspiration to us all and her attitude toward her epilepsy will hopefully inspire others that their lives should not be controlled by their condition and that they can live life to the full.
